One-Year Research Fellowship supporting the next generation of surgical researchers
Applications for the Blond McIndoe Research Foundation One-Year Research Fellowship are now being accepted, with the deadline for submissions approaching on 25 February 2026.
This Fellowship offers a valuable opportunity for early-career clinicians and researchers to undertake a dedicated year of research focused on wound healing, burns care and soft tissue reconstruction.
Designed to support the next generation of surgical researchers, the Fellowship provides protected time, funding and academic support at a pivotal stage in career development.

About the Fellowship
The BMRF One-Year Research Fellowship supports a full year of research at an approved UK institution. Fellows are encouraged to pursue projects that align closely with the Foundation’s mission to support cutting-edge research into burns, wound healing and soft-tissue reconstruction and advance patient care through education and the dissemination of knowledge and learning.
The Fellowship offers:
Funding for a full-time, one-year research post
The opportunity to work within an established research environment
Protected time to develop research, academic writing and presentation skills
A strong foundation for future academic, clinical and research progression
Former Fellows have gone on to publish their work, secure further funding and build successful careers in academic and clinical research.
Why Apply?
Undertaking a BMRF-funded research year offers more than financial support. Fellows benefit from dedicated time to focus on meaningful research while gaining valuable academic and professional experience.

Contribute to research with real potential to improve patient care
Develop skills that support long-term careers in research, surgery and academia

By supporting early-career researchers, the Foundation continues Sir Archibald McIndoe’s legacy of innovation, collaboration and excellence in patient-centred care.
